Dog Breed: Poodle (unknown type) (medium coat). Meet Harper! This precious little Poodle girl came from a confusing start. Her former owners were hobby breeders who bred their dogs intentionally but struggled to find good homes for all the puppies or keep up with their care. The pups weren’t kept current on essential vaccinations and were confined indoors full-time, never getting the chance to explore a yard, go on walks, or experience the outside world. Thankfully, when the owners realized they couldn’t properly place the remaining puppies, they reached out to our rescue for help. Worthy Dog took in two of the pups, and another local rescue took the other two. When Harper arrived, she needed updated vaccines, treatment for flea irritation, and a long-overdue grooming. After a vet visit and spa day, she’s looking and feeling so much better! Harper is now thriving in her foster home with a mom, dad, and two dogs. While she was shy at first, she quickly formed a bond with her humans and found comfort in her pack. She loves romping in the yard, following the other dogs’ lead, and joining in for walks. Her sweet, gentle personality is shining through more each day. Her foster mom, Debbie, shared this update: Her foster mom, Debbie, shared this update: “Harper continues to do very well in our home. Her introduction to my dogs went very smoothly. No one said an ugly word or growl. Harper would probably be fine as an only dog, but I think she does enjoy the company of other dogs. I think going out with my dogs on their walking schedule helped with her potty training. She has learned that outside is exercise and potty time. There have been NO inside "accidents". She does not go to the door wanting to go out; we just keep a consistent routine. We don’t have a fenced yard, but I think she would love that. She enjoys chasing a ball down the hallway, and she can do zoomies inside. I would love to see her have an outside area to do real zoomies. It's difficult to do a zoomie on leash. When we take our walks, Harper gets very excited. She’s learned to go potty on leash and does well walking in the neighborhood. Harper is a pretty confident girl once she settles in. She loves to snuggle. She has a winning personality, and she doesn't take long to win your heart. I know she has mine. She is always overjoyed to see me in the mornings or any other time I am away from her. She is crate-trained, and we use the crate when we leave home, and she does fine. Since she’s a young dog, so we do regular potty breaks, and she’s learned to go potty on leash now. Overall, she had a moderate energy level. She enjoys her walks but also loves to sleep on my lap. She can not get enough pets and rubs. She will nudge your hand until you give her alllll the love. It took a couple of days for her to walm up to my husband. But now she loves his lap. If I didn't have 2 dogs of my own, I would need to adopt her! I have loved my time with her." ****** This sweet girl is so affectionate and is finally learning what it feels like to have a family to love and to love her back.
