Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Warning: May Steal Your Chair and Your Affection Choco is a true gentleman wrapped in fur. He’s not one for chasing toys, but he’ll happily chase your attention. His favorite pastime? Leaning gently against your leg, soaking up pets, and gazing at you with those soft, knowing eyes. During our visit, he decided the best way to connect was to hop into the chair next to mine—just to meet me eye to eye. It’s hard not to melt when he does that. On our next adventure, we learned something new: Choco loves water. A puddle, a pond, or a quick cold plunge—he’s all in. Despite his strength, he walks beautifully on leash, keeping pace with quiet confidence. Choco may be low-key, but he’s overflowing with affection and charm. He’s ready for a family who appreciates gentle companionship, shared moments, and maybe the occasional splash. Choco has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out his playgroup video here: To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
