Meet Dwayne, a dignified yet playful 10-month-old Labrador Retriever/Shepherd mix who is already winning hearts with his friendly demeanor and striking good looks. At 65 lbs., this handsome, large pup will likely fill out a bit more as he reaches full maturity, but he will always wear his sleek black medium length coat with confidence, turning heads wherever he goes. His story began with hardship—originally adopted from a shelter, Dwayne was heartbreakingly abandoned at the exit of an interstate highway. Thankfully, his luck turned around when he was rescued and welcomed into a loving foster home, where he resided with two large dogs prior to coming up to Connecticut. He has quickly proven himself to be a smart and well-mannered companion, mastering the doggie door and developing excellent leash-walking skills. With a medium energy level, Dwayne strikes the perfect balance with always being ready for a fun game of fetch, tug of war, or a family adventure, but just as happy to curl up for some quiet time afterward. Dwayne is great with kids and other dogs, although his history with cats remains a mystery. His new family will need to continue reinforcing his house and crate training skills, but Dwayne is quick to learn and loves making his humans proud. Whether it is daily walks, beach trips, or cozy evenings at home, Dwayne will be your loyal, loving companion through it all.
