Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Dani Pembroke, MA 'Tis time! Born around 9/10/25, Sanderson's eight little imps came into foster care as mere sprigs at approximately three weeks old. They have all been learning, growing, and running amok (amok, amok, amok!) while they wait for their adoptive families to find them! Dani is a spicy redhead and shows the most cattle-doggy behavior of the litter. He's mouthy, has a penchant for pant legs and shoelaces, and demands your attention. In other words: he's FUN! He's going to really thrive in an active home with someone interested in tapping into his innate drives, and I will be introducing him to a variety of different sports to see what he shows interest in. Dani would do best in a home that will provide clear training and boundaries: he's a pushy little cattlebrat, and will need that structure and appropriate outlets for his energy to be happy and fulfilled. He can be a little sensitive in new environments but not overly so - he will likely bond closely with his owner and will easily overcome challenges with his person there to coach him. Their momma, Sanderson, has been a friendly, sensitive girl and is settling in nicely here in foster. She's done a great job caring for her pups! Embark results on one puppy revealed they are primarily ACD with low percentages of several other breeds (apbt, husky, boxer, and aussie shepherd). This breed makeup appears accurate for all pups in the litter, so we feel it is unlikely there were multiple sires (but that's always a possibility). Mom is approximately 35lbs, and we estimate most pups will fall in a similar range. We are establishing some foundational skills here, including crate exposure and a verbal marker system for training, but as puppies they will need training for all the basics to grow great and powerful. Be warned: they will try to light Black Flame Candles without proper guidance. Pups are getting positive exposure to adult dogs, and should be fine with cats (particularly black cats) if integrated properly. With Dani's spice level, he will do best in a breed-savvy home without young children. He should be fine in a home with dogs, but can be pushy with his siblings so care should be taken to ensure this behavior doesn't carry into his relationships with other dogs. Dani is microchipped, up to date on deworming, and has age-appropriate vaccinations. He and his littermates are being adopted out on spay/neuter contracts to allow their puppy bodies and minds more time to develop. They must meet their potential families in person to help ensure a great match - please keep your location in mind when applying. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
