Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. Coco is a 15-week-old Shepherd mix and the perfect mix of sweet, gentle, and adventurous! At around 25 lbs, she’s a curious little thinker who loves to explore, especially when she's trying to keep up with her foster siblings. It's so fun to watch her wheels turn as she zooms across the yard, learning to be brave. Coco is still learning the ropes with house training and crate training — she knows “go potty” and is making great progress, but will need a patient adopter to continue her training. She’s smart, eager to please, and responds well to guidance. Because she can be vocal when left alone or confined, she cannot live in a home with shared walls (no apartments or condos). Coco is an active, high-energy pup who will thrive with daily play, exercise, and mental stimulation. Her favorite activities include tug-of-war, chasing balls, chewing toys, and romping with other dogs. A secure fenced yard would be ideal for her to safely explore and burn off puppy energy. Coco is learning boundaries when playing, but overall loves to make friends with other dogs and young kids! She does not have experience with cats. Coco had a rough start to life but has only shown love and resilience since arriving at her foster home. She’s looking for an adopter who can offer her the structure, patience, and affection she deserves — and in return, she’ll give endless love, laughs, and loyalty. If you are interested in Coco, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - pethavenmn/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/ The adoption fee is $550. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
