Description
Dog Breed: Dutch Shepherd. Twice Returned, But Still Believing in Forever — Meet Boone - Located in GA At just 8–9 months old, Boone has already had more heartbreak than any puppy should. Adopted and returned before coming to MAD, this sweet Dutch Shepherd mix is hoping that the 3rd time’s the charm in finding the person who won’t give up on him. Boone’s early life wasn’t kind — there are signs he may have been physically abused as a young pup. But if you met him today, you’d see nothing but Boone is a --, who greets life with a wagging tail and a goofy grin, even after everything he’s been through. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and non-destructive in the home — a good boy through and through. He plays rough and rowdy with other dogs, so a canine friend with similar size, energy, and play style will make for an instant best buddy. Boone is still learning that his things are safe — he has some issues that his foster is actively working on him with. Because of this, Boone needs a human who’s , , — someone who sets clear boundaries, but also understands that respect goes both ways. Young children and cats aren’t likely going to be the best fit for him. Yes, Boone can be a bit of a when the zoomies hit, but beneath that big personality is a loyal heart that just wants to belong. This boy has been failed before, but he hasn’t given up on people. Maybe you’re the one who shows him that really means something. All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and six month subscription. *********************************************************************** If you are interested in adopting this pet, please complete an application at this link: petstablished/adoption_form/24689/generic. *********************************************************************** MAD is an official 501c3 organization that does not have a physical location. Breed overview
Holland Shepherd
A.K.A.: Dutch Shepherd, Dutchie, Hollandse Herder, Herder
Overview:
The Hollandse Herdershond, or Dutch Shepherd, is a versatile and intelligent breed originating from the Netherlands, where they were traditionally used by shepherds and farmers for herding and guarding livestock. Physically, they are a medium-sized dog with a powerful, muscular build, typically weighing between 50-70 pounds and standing 21-25 inches tall. Their coats come in three varieties: short-haired, long-haired, and wire-haired, all displaying the breed's distinctive brindle pattern in shades of gold or silver. Temperamentally, Dutch Shepherds are known for their strong work ethic, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to their families. They are highly trainable and excel in various dog sports like obedience, agility, and protection work. While generally good with children, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them better suited for active families with experience in dog ownership, rather than first-time owners or those in apartment settings. Like many active breeds, they can be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term health.
