Description

Dog Breed: Collie (long coat). A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY PLACEMENT. WITHOUT THAT INFORMATION, WE HAVE NO PLACE TO START A CONVERSATION. SO, GO TO OUR WEBSITE AT .colliesheltierescue AND FILL OUT THEONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION. YOUR NEXT BEST FRIEND AWAITS! Stormy is the quintessential gentle senior rough coated Collie that is a pleasure to live with. According to her DOB, Stormy is 11 years old. But she seems much younger to everyone who meets her. She has good energy and actually has been known to chase a frisbee although she refuses to bring it back. LOL Of course, Stormy is spayed and up to date on all her vaccines. Her bloodwork is excellent and she is heartworm negative. Hilltop Pet Clinic just completed a dental for her and she had two extractions. Otherwise, her smile is bright and freshly polished. She made good friends with the staff at the vet and never missed a beat after a general anesthetic. She is microchipped with a Home Again chip and comes with a lifetime database listing. Stormy's dad Mike has passed on and we promised him to find the best home possible for her. Her foster family adores her and if we don't find a better situation, she will stay with them for her entire lifetime. But we believe that another family is just patiently waiting for her to come along and claim them. Could that be you?

Overview:

The Collie, a majestic and intelligent breed, originates from Scotland where they were primarily used for herding sheep. Known for their striking beauty, Collies typically possess a long, flowing double coat that comes in a variety of colors including sable and white, tricolor, and blue merle. They have a graceful, athletic build, with a distinctive long muzzle and expressive eyes. In terms of temperament, Collies are renowned for being incredibly loyal, gentle, and highly trainable, making them excellent companions. Their affectionate nature makes them particularly well-suited for families with children, though their need for moderate exercise means they thrive in homes with yards, rather than cramped apartment living. While generally a healthy breed, potential owners should be aware of a predisposition to certain conditions like Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) and drug sensitivities. With proper care and training, a Collie will enrich any household with their devoted companionship and bright personality.
