Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Rat Terrier / Mixed. Fill out an Online Adoption Application! Meet Meldon — Applicant for His Forever Home This sweet boy is officially throwing his resume out there in hopes of finding a position that truly suits him! Meldon is a 5-year-old Rat Terrier and Chihuahua mix, and yes — his good looks and perfect size are definite bonuses. He’s confident, charming, and fully aware that he has a few “workplace quirks.” He’s a barker (and proudly so!). If you’re looking for someone to keep you informed about every delivery, squirrel, or mysterious noise outside, he’s your man. He’s also decided that his childcare and ESA career days are behind him — Meldon much prefers to work with mature adults who appreciate loyalty and a little sass. He can coexist with cats, as long as they understand he’s the boss and respect his personal space. Meldon’s personal life includes some impressive skills: Potty trained (with occasional puppy pad use at night) Crate trained, though he’s perfectly trustworthy loose in a room Non-chewer — he’s not one to destroy belongings Excellent car companion — he loves rides and will happily sit in the front seat or your lap Leash pro — he enjoys his walks and time outdoors Cuddle expert — at night, he sleeps on the bed and loves curling up on your stomach to snooze Clean and polite — he behaves wonderfully for baths and loves his hygiene treats Water connoisseur — he prefers drinking from his water fountain like the classy gentleman he is Meldon can take along his crate, water fountain, food, treats, and chew toy (though he’s not much for chewing). What he really wants to take, though, is his heart full of love for his favorite human — and find someone new to give it to. If you’re looking for a loyal, quirky, and affectionate companion who knows exactly who he is, Meldon is ready to report for duty. Breed overview
Overview:
The Rat-Cha, a charming crossbreed between the Chihuahua and Rat Terrier, offers a spirited companion with a unique blend of its parent breeds' best traits. Originating from the desire to combine the Chihuahua's affectionate nature with the Rat Terrier's intelligence and robustness, this hybrid is gaining popularity. Physically, Rat-Chas are typically small to medium-sized, weighing between 6 and 15 pounds, with a short, easy-to-care-for coat that can vary widely in color. They often possess expressive eyes and a sturdy build, reflecting their terrier lineage. Temperamentally, they are known for being alert, playful, and loyal, often forming strong bonds with their families. While they can be vocal, early socialization and training can mitigate this. Their adaptable size makes them well-suited for both apartment living and homes with yards, and they can be wonderful additions to active families, though supervision is wise with very young children due to their smaller stature. Health-wise, like many small breeds, they can be prone to dental issues and patellar luxation, so regular vet check-ups are important.
