Description
Dog Breed: Schnauzer / Mixed. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please complete an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about our adoption process, please visit our Adoption Process page on our website at .rescuecrew. Kenicke is a shy boy who is slow to warm up to people. He was found by MACC roaming the streets with his sister, Rizzo, who is almost his identical twin. Yes, twinning! He is a ragamuffin weighing in at only 11 lbs. And while he is shy at first, he likes to be around his people once he learns you give good pets. Lil Kenicke comes to you fully crate trained as he sleeps in there at night (although we’re thinking he would prefer to sleep next to his people). He is housetrained and knows how to either tell you he has to go outside or use a potty pad. He likes to play and wrestle with his foster doggo siblings (which are his own size). He loves his toys and gets along with children. Don’t let his quiet nature fool you, however…he will use that little voice to tell you when he's hungry! Given Kenicke’s temperament, he would do best with a patient family who can allow him to come out of his shell on his own timeline. To give him the space he needs to trust. But once that happens? This boy will be your most loyal pal! He does tend to stick close to his sister, Rizzo, and would give you all his best puppy kisses to find his forever home with her (not required, but they would love to be together!). Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at .RescueCrew. You can also access the necessary online forms here as well.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
