Description
Dog Breed: Schnauzer / Mixed. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please complete an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about our adoption process, please visit our Adoption Process page on our website at .rescuecrew. Rizzo is a shy girl who is slow to warm up to people. She is a fluffy little pupper weighing in at only 9 lbs. She was found by MACC roaming the streets with her brother, Kenicke, who is almost her identical twin. Yes, there are two of these cutie pies! And while she is shy at first, she likes to be around her people once she learns you give good pets. Lady Rizzo comes to you fully crate trained as she sleeps in there at night (although we’re thinking she would prefer to sleep next to her people). She is housetrained and knows how to either tell you she has to go outside or use a potty pad. She likes to play and wrestle with her foster doggo siblings (which are her own size). She loves her toys and gets along with children. Don’t let her quiet nature fool you, however…she will use that little voice to sass you when she's hungry! Given Rizzo’s temperament, she would do best with a patient family who can allow her to come out of her shell on her own timeline. To give her the space she needs to trust. But once that happens? This little girl will be your most loyal companion! She does find safety in the shelter of her brother, Kenicke, and would be the happiest girl to find her forever home with him (not required, but they would love to be together!). Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at .RescueCrew. You can also access the necessary online forms here as well.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
