Description
Dog Breed: American Bulldog (medium coat). Meet Bullseye! Bullseye is a fun-loving, affectionate American Bulldog whoâs ready to find a home filled with love and understanding. This big-hearted boy is full of life â he adores human interaction and never turns down playtime, especially when stuffed toys are involved! Bullseyeâs enthusiasm is contagious, but he does have some medical needs that require attention. He will need an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) procedure, which will be performed by our external veterinary partner. His new adopter must be willing to: Bring him to our designated vet for the surgery and all follow-up rechecks. Provide and manage post-operative care at home (all associated medical costs for surgery and rechecks will be covered by the shelter). Please note: Bullseye may experience ongoing mobility issues such as a chronic limp, muscle loss, or arthritis after recovery. If a professional physiotherapy program is recommended by the vet, this cost would not be covered by the shelter and would be the responsibility of the adopter. Bullseye is looking for a compassionate, committed adopter who can give him the care, patience, and love he deserves. In return, heâll reward you with endless affection, fun, and loyalty. If youâre ready to open your heart and home to a sweet dog whoâs full of spirit and courage, Bullseye canât wait to meet you! Please just give us a call at the North Shelter 416-338-8723 and we can give you some more information on Bullseye and explain the current adoption process.

Overview:
The American Bulldog, a powerful and athletic breed, boasts a fascinating lineage rooted in the working bulldogs brought to America by immigrants. These dogs were bred for various farm tasks, including herding and guarding, which contributed to their robust build and tenacious spirit. Physically, they are strong and muscular, typically weighing between 60-120 pounds, with a broad head, powerful jaws, and a short, dense coat that can come in various patterns, often with white as the predominant color. Temperamentally, American Bulldogs are known for being courageous, confident, and incredibly loyal to their families. While they possess a protective instinct, they are also affectionate and good-natured, making them excellent companions. They generally get along well with children and other pets when properly socialized, though their strength and energy require attentive supervision. Due to their active nature and need for space, American Bulldogs are best suited for homes with yards rather than small apartments. They thrive on regular exercise and mental stimulation, otherwise, they may develop destructive habits. Regarding health, while generally hardy, they can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, ichthyosis, and various allergies. Prospective owners should always seek out reputable breeders who conduct health screenings to ensure the well-being of their future furry friend.
