Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Jack is a sweet puppy who would do well in a home with other dogs or even a cat friend. He would also enjoy the company of affectionate children who can play catch ball with him in the backyard. An all curious and cuddly boy, Jack loves to spend time on fluffly beds and warm pillows. Because he's still a puppy, he still has a few accidents in his crate but with a little time and patience, he'll soon be a pro with the potty skills. We also recommend enrolling him in pup-school classes so he can socialize with other dogs and humans. Currently, he's being fostered with 4 other large dogs and 4 other adults. Jack needs some leash training and will want to have lots of chewing toys at his disposition. Rescue story: Jack was found abandoned by the side of the road by his foster mom who is a USPS driver (and often encounters stray dogs on her delivery road). This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
