Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). #A5726541 Meet Nui , a 2-year-old terrier mix with the sleek look of a mini lab and a stunning jet-black coat, as dark as a starless night. Nui came to us with a leg injury, making him a proud “tripawd,” but don’t let that fool you - he’s adapting wonderfully and it doesn’t slow him down one bit! Despite everything he’s been through, Nui remains sweet, trusting, and full of love for the humans around him. He’ll need a little patience as he continues to adjust to life on three legs, but with TLC and consistency, he’ll truly flourish. ✨ This resilient boy is ready to show his forever family just how amazing life on three paws can be! ❤️ -2 year old black Terrier mix -28 pound male -up to date on all shots and preventatives, so ready to go home with you today! He is healing well from his amputation, but when examined at the shelter, they were not able to check if he was neutered, which will need to be done before or shortly after his adoption; will need to be adopted on a health waiver - adopter to follow up with own vet for further diagnostics and treatment -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 9//14/25 as an owner surrender - but we have no notes and no idea why! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
