Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed. // Find our applications at .midwestanimalrescue Adoption Fee: $550 plus tax Hello future family…aren’t I just the absolute cutest! My name is Scarecrow and I am almost 8 weeks old and ready to find a family of my own that I don’t have to share with my siblings! I will probably be a little bigger than mom, but not much (maybe 12-15 lbs as fully grown). I am a typical puppy…I sleep a lot, eat a lot, and play in between in dramatic bursts. I am pretty good at going potty on the re-usable training pads, and love to have treats like cheese and diced apples on top of my food. Foster mom is helping me be a confident little puppy by providing lots of activities like tunnels and stairs, wobble boards, and other activities like that. I love toys…especially the ones that squeak! Are you the family for me? Fill out an app to meet me (or one of my siblings), you won’t be disappointed! * Puppies under 5 months should not be left alone for more than 4 hours at a time to help them with potty training and socialization. If you have previously applied with us please email placementmidwestanimalrescue to reactivate your application with new interest. or When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history. //

Breed overview
Overview:
The Chiweenie, an adorable and increasingly popular designer breed, is a delightful cross between the spirited Chihuahua and the charming Dachshund. Originating in the United States, these small companions inherited a unique blend of traits from their parent breeds. Physically, they typically possess a long, low body reminiscent of the Dachshund, combined with the often-large ears and expressive eyes of the Chihuahua. Their coats can vary widely in color and texture, from short and smooth to long and wiry. Temperamentally, Chiweenies are known for being loyal, affectionate, and surprisingly energetic. They often exhibit a playful and sometimes stubborn streak, making early socialization and training beneficial. Their small size makes them well-suited for apartment living and families with older children or individuals seeking a devoted lapdog. While generally robust, potential health considerations include issues common to their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation and intervertebral disc disease, making regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term well-being.
