Description
Dog Breed: Husky (medium coat). Please contact Jessica (jvargaskaffieyahoo) for more information about this pet. ONLY CONTACT INFO BELOW! COURTESY POSTING! Rescued starved and chained in Skid row - his homeless owner could not feed him. DUKE is a 3-year-old husky with a regal demeanor, exhibiting behaviors characteristic of royalty. He is selective with his canine companions and consistently displays non-aggressive behavior. While independent, he enjoys affection and treats, demonstrating his training and good manners. Duke is particular about his food, eating modestly, and prefers naps both indoors and outdoors. His favorite activity is walking, and he requires a confident handler, especially in unfamiliar environments. Although he is not fond of car travel, he readily enters vehicles for trips to the park or other destinations. Housebroken and trained and well-behaved at home, Duke is friendly with everyone, especially humans, making him an ideal companion. He embodies a noble spirit in canine form. Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
