Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (short coat). #A5732067 Tito is an outstanding 1 year old male German Shepherd puppy who impressed our volunteers with his affectionate playful personality. Timid in his kennel, he bonded quickly after just a few minutes in the yard with our volunteer handler. A hidden gem in a busy shelter with a lot of dogs, Tito is ready to be a loyal loving companion for the lucky person who brings him home to be part of the family. -Very handsome classic short coated German Shepherd with black and tan markings -Thin at 74 pounds, he should fill out and put on a little more weight to look and feel his best -Loves treats and getting attention! -Already knows sit, this smart boy will quickly learn whatever he needs to know with food rewards or just getting praise for getting it right -Not yet neutered when we met him. A trust waiver may be required if that hasn’t been done by his adoption day -Walks well on leash and will be a happy companion for walks and outings with you -Came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on October 10 as an owner surrender TITO’S VIDEO: youtube/shorts/M-M5FtAD7Tc For more information, contact volunteer Lisa at lisaaunitedhopeforanimals ------- United Hope for Animals (UHA) is a volunteer group and does not have a facility for animals. Overview:

The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
