Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). #A5729143 Tony just wants to love somebody and be loved back! He’s got a huge smile and a friendly flirty personality. Given the chance to get out of his kennel for some exercise and attention, Tony shines! He’s a really good buddy for a lucky person or family. -Mostly white with some milk chocolate colored patches -About 3 years and 61 pounds so handsome! -Good on leash, he would love to go on walks with you and meet new human friends. We aren’t sure how he feels about other dogs yet. -His smooshy Boxer face and floppy ears are super cute! -Tony’s waggy tail is full of joy despite being in the shelter environment. -Came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on September 27 as a stray -Not yet neutered when we met because he was being treated for a cold. If he hasn’t been neutered by his adoption day, a trust waiver and deposit may be required. Breed overview
Boxer
A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
