Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). #A5732597 Xenia is a beautiful 4-year-old, 89 lb spayed female German Shepherd with a classic brown and black coat. Found as a stray, Xenia is gentle and sweet but still a bit nervous in the shelter environment. She takes time to warm up, yet once she feels safe, she shows her affectionate and social side within her comfort zone. With patience and understanding, she’s sure to blossom into a loyal and loving companion. Xenia currently is healing from a surgery funded by the Dreams Come True Foundation and has a splint on her left front leg and is healing well. She will be available for adoption soon on a health waiver. She’s likely housebroken and will do best in a calm home that allows her to settle in at her own pace. -4 years old, spayed female, 89 lbs -German Shepherd, brown and black coat -Found as a stray -Nervous but friendly once comfortable -Sweet, gentle, and social in familiar settings -Likely housebroken -Healing with a splint on left front leg -Adoptable with health waiver -Ideal for a patient adopter who can provide reassurance and a peaceful environment XENIA’S VIDEO: youtube/shorts/9MhfB_9S6Io For more information, contact volunteer Lisa at lisaaunitedhopeforanimals ------- United Hope for Animals (UHA) is a volunteer group and does not have a facility for animals. Overview:

The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
