Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed. A SWEET, FUN & ACTIVE FRIEND: Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 13 lbs. Hi there, I’m Percy! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I’m so happy to be here getting all the love and care I’ve been dreaming of. When I arrived, my fur was very overgrown and tangled, so I needed a full shave - and wow, does it feel good to be fresh and comfy again! I’m the kind of pup who needs regular grooming to keep me looking and feeling my best. Right now, I’m enjoying life in a wonderful foster home while I wait to meet my forever family - hopefully very soon! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts or in my foster home yet, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts or in my foster home, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a bundle of sweetness who just wants to be wherever my people are! I love hanging out close by - sometimes I snooze in a crate in my foster dad’s office while he works, and other times I’m busy being playful, fun, and full of happy energy. I adore pets, cuddles, and being a lap pup, and I’m always ready to share love. Even bath time at the shelter didn’t bother me - I was calm and gentle, just taking it all in like the good little dog I am. If you're looking for a sweet, active and friendly companion who will brighten your days and warm your lap, I could be your guy! / I have a higher energy level in my foster home – around 6-8. It was lower at the shelter - around 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: In my foster home, I know the ‘sit’, and ‘come’ commands and I walk well on my leash. I’m sure you can teach me even more! / I’m doing well in my crate at nighttime, where I sleep through the night. / I’m still working on my potty manners - I’ve had a few accidents in the house and at the shelter, so I’ll need a patient person to help me keep learning. I’m especially not a fan of going outside when it’s raining (wet paws … no thanks!), but with consistency, routine, and lots of positive guidance, I believe I’ll get there! • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love going for walks - I get so excited when I see my leash come out! Toys are also fun, being with my people is truly the best. I’m happiest when I can be close, whether that means being held, getting lots of pets, or just hanging out together. Quality time and gentle affection? Yes please! / I really don’t like being alone a lot, so I’d be happiest with someone who works from home or is around a lot to keep me company. I’m also sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. I’m a wonderful dog looking for a wonderful family that will treasure me and take great care of me, too! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
