Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). ***Neela is scheduled to attend our adoption event at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ over the Nov. 8-9 weekend. An application for her adoption should be submitted at socorescue (no need to register or login). Questions about Neela and/or our adoption policy, should be sent to socorescue8gmail; please do not call the Rescue's number.*** Neela and her siblings were found abandoned along the side of a road. A post that was shared on Facebook alerted a number of people, including Scott Bennett and a family that offered to foster the pups until we could get them into the rescue. The pups were approximately 2 months old when they were found and were in poor health. Neela not only boast a spectacular personality, she's also very darn cute! With those great attributes, it's no surprise that she'll make a great companion for some very lucky person. Giving Neela all of the love that she deserves will only have that love returned to you many times over. Neela has received 2/3 of her first year "puppy" vaccinations, her Bordetella and rabies vaccinations and been de-wormed on proper intervals. She's also been started on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Her adopter must agree to having Neela spay once she reaches 6 months old and provide verification of such to our rescue. She will require all of her basic training.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
