Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). ***Nessi is scheduled to attend our adoption event at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ over the Nov. 8-9 weekend. An application for her adoption should be submitted at socorescue (no need to register or login). Questions about Nessi and/or our adoption policy, should be sent to socorescue8gmail; please do not call the Rescue's number.*** Nessi and her siblings were found abandoned along the side of a road. A post that was shared on Facebook alerted a number of people, including Scott Bennett and a family that offered to foster the pups until we could get them into the rescue. The pups were approximately 2 months old when they were found and were in poor health. Sweet, gentle and full of love are just three ways to describe Nessi. No doubt, her adopter will easily come up other wonderful adjectives to attach to her. Don't adopt Nessi unless you're ready to have every day filled with love and devotion. Nessi has received 2/3 of her first year "puppy" vaccinations, her Bordetella and rabies vaccinations and been de-wormed on proper intervals. She's also been started on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Her adopter must agree to having Nessi spay once she reaches 6 months old and provide verification of such to our rescue. She will require all of her basic training.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
