Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Meet Ransom, an 11 week old female German shepherd. Ransom's name fits so well because she will steal your heart. She is a very well tempered, outgoing and playful girl. Ransom is also confident. She loves to play with other dogs and is very outgoing. She is learning commands and is extremely smart and athletic. She is learning to walk on leash and very inquisitive on her walks. She is great in the car. Ransom would love a male companion dog. We will not place her in a home with a female dog. She is fine with female dogs right now, but she is showing signs of being a pack leader and two strong females in a pack is not a good idea. Ransom would love to do sports like agility, barn hunt, etc. She is a very enthusiastic learner. We are working on potty training and she is doing very well but still needs consistent outings. Ransom has received her first rounds of shots and has been dewormed. She is crate trained. If you are interested in this sweet bundle of energy, please fill out an online application at Bluemoonshepherdrescue. If you have any questions, you can contact Donna at BMSR1313gmail. We adopt to NC and SC. Blue Moon Shepherd Rescue only adopts to applicants in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. German Shepherd Dog

A.K.A.: Alsatian, Alsatian Wolf Dog, Shepherd Dog, GSD, Deutscher Schäferhund, Schäferhund, Berger Allemand, Pastore Tedesco, Perro de Pastor Alemán, Alsatian Dog
Overview:

The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
