Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Roscoe! Roscoe’s journey hasn’t been easy — he was found abandoned in a home, surviving on his own with a few other dogs. Despite his tough past, this sweet boy is learning to trust and open his heart again. Roscoe is potty trained and working on his leash manners, slowly learning that walks can be fun! He’s a bit shy and takes time to warm up, especially around men, but with patience and gentle care, he truly starts to shine. Outdoors is where Roscoe comes alive — his ears perk up, his tail relaxes, and he loves following new scents on his little adventures. Food is definitely the way to his heart (he loves any kind!), and having other dogs around helps him feel more comfortable and confident. Roscoe would do best in a calm, loving home without small children, where he can feel safe and take life at his own pace. With time, trust, and kindness, Roscoe will reward his people with quiet loyalty and unconditional love. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
