Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Terrier / Mixed. At 10 years old, he’s suddenly finding himself without a home for the first time, but you’d never guess it from his loving personaliy. Mello is an 11lb Yorkie Mix who loves walks in the park, playing with his toys, and keeping watch from his favorite window perch. He’s brave, funny, and always up for an adventure, he loves exploring a new block or sniffing every leaf along the way. This little guy is super friendly with everyone he meets, sweet with kids, and has the cutest habit of greeting people like they’ve been best friends forever. He’s curious about other dogs, barks at bikes, and sometimes pulls on the leash, mostly because there’s just so much to see! Mello is still getting the hang of house training and we think this will improve once he has his neuter, and he’s learning that crates can be cozy spots, especially with a cushy bed inside. He’s a fast learner, especially when treats are involved. Even after all he’s been through, Mello’s tail still wags nonstop. He just wants someone to love, a soft place to nap, and a person who will see how special he is. He may be small, but he’s got a huge heart that’s ready to belong to someone again!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
