Description
Dog Breed: Newfoundland Dog / Mixed. Luke is a 1-year-old, medium-energy, 80-pound Newfoundland mix who’s equal parts gentle and goofy. He loves walks, chew toys, bounding, cuddling on ridiculously small pillows, and long naps after playtime. Luke is fully potty-trained and learning leash manners. He is well-mannered and kind to everyone: gentle with kids, friendly with dog-savvy cats, and would absolutely love another dog in the home. Despite his big size, Luke is still a puppy at heart. He’s at the perfect age to keep learning and growing into a sweet, steady companion. Because he’s curious and adventurous, a fenced yard is a must. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
