Description
Dog Breed: Maltese / Shih Tzu / Mixed. Introducing Pipa! This darling little fluffball is about 6 months old and already a bit of a traveler; she was found as a stray in Texas and flown here on a life-saving rescue flight. When she arrived, she was skinny, dirty, and matted, but a bath, a (slightly “creative”) haircut, and steady meals have brought out her sparkle. She will win your heart at first glance. Pipa is a classic puppy: happy, bouncy, sweet, curious, playful, and just a little mischievous. She adores toys, walks, cuddles, and making her human laugh. She’d be happiest with a playful, similar-sized companion who can help her catch up on her puppy manners and share in her daily zoomies. She loves to play and chew on the ears of any canine playmate. We think she’s a Maltese mix, her silky fur and long legs, but she’s got some mystery mixed in too. She’s nearly housebroken (uses potty pads as backup) but may need reminders about where to go - just like any young dog does in new environments. She’s learning to walk on leash but mostly just wants to run and play. Pipa doesn’t shed much but will need regular professional and at-home grooming and brushing to keep her coat and teeth healthy. Pipa is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped; her adoption fee is $200. To meet Pipa, please fill out an application at .caws/adoption-application. CAWS does not place animals on a first-come, first-served basis; we strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at caws/adoption-application

More About Mal-Shi BreedOverview:
The Mal-Shi, a charming designer breed, is a delightful cross between the gentle Maltese and the affectionate Shih Tzu. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of both parent breeds, the Mal-Shi is typically a small, sturdy companion dog, rarely exceeding 15 pounds. Their physical characteristics often include a soft, wavy to curly, hypoallergenic-friendly coat that sheds minimally, requiring regular grooming to prevent matting. Common coat colors range from white, cream, and black to various shades of brown and brindle. Temperament-wise, Mal-Shis are renowned for being incredibly sweet, playful, and intelligent, making them highly trainable and eager to please. They thrive on human companionship and are generally excellent with children and other pets, making them a fantastic choice for families and individuals alike. Their adaptability, coupled with their moderate exercise needs, makes them well-suited for apartment living. While generally healthy, potential health considerations include respiratory issues common to brachycephalic breeds (if the Shih Tzu parent has a very flat face), patellar luxation, and eye conditions. Regular veterinary check-ups are crucial for maintaining their well-being.
