Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua. Meet Ralphie! Ralphie is an adorable 1–2-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing about 8 pounds. He may be small, but he has a big heart and an even bigger personality once you get to know him! Ralphie can be a little shy at first, especially with new people or places, but with patience and gentle introductions, his sweet and silly side shines through. Once he’s comfortable, he’s full of charm—bouncing up and down to greet you, snuggling close on the couch, and playing joyfully with his squeaky toys. He’s crate-trained and walks beautifully on a leash. Like many youngsters, Ralphie is still working on his house training and learning his manners, but he’s eager to please and responds well to gentle correction. He gets along great with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a friend to help build his confidence! Because he can be startled by quick movements, a calmer home with older children would be the best fit. Ralphie would also do great in an apartment setting as long as he gets his walks and playtime. What makes Ralphie special is the way he bonds with his people! Once he trusts you, he’ll nuzzle his head into yours and melt your heart. He’s affectionate, funny, and just the right mix of playful and cuddly. Ralphie is looking for a patient, loving family who will give him the time he needs to settle in and the encouragement to keep growing into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion with lots of love to give, Ralphie might just be your perfect match! Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
