Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Lucky is a handsome as can be 7-year-old Siberian Husky. We donât know much about his past, but what we do know is that this boy lives up to his name. Lucky is a social butterfly who absolutely loves people. Whether it's making new friends or soaking up attention, heâs always ready with a wagging tail and a cheerful attitude. At 61 pounds, Lucky is the perfect size for cuddles, walks, and everything in between. He enjoys the simple pleasures in lifeâlike chewing on a good bone. Lucky would be best for a home without any cats or other dogs. He has done well with meeting other dogs in passing, but prefers not to share his home space with them. If you are interested in meeting Lucky, please visit the shelter during our open hours; Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 10a-12:30p & 2p-4p, Thurs 10a-12:30p & 2p-6:30p, and Saturday 9a-1p. Adoption application can be filled out and approved during your meet-and-greet. If you have another dog in the home, plan to bring them for a meet before you complete the adoption!

A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
