Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. To adopt please fill out an adoption application. Hendrxx is a 3 ½ year old male purebred German Shepherd Dog who was abandoned by his owner at a boarding facility in Memphis. Hendrxx’ owner never came back for him and ignored all attempts to contact so the boarding facility kept Hendrxx safe and reached out to rescue for help re-homing him with a good family. Friendly, well-socialized, wonderful temperament, typical GSD. Hendrxx has no known history with children. Not yet cat tested. Not yet tested with other dogs. Medium-high energy level outside, quiet and well-mannered inside. Housebroken and crate trained. Obeys basic commands. Loves to be with his people. Good on a leash, rides great in the car. Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots, neutered, weighs about 80 pounds. AWESOME young GSD will make a wonderful companion (and jogging partner!) for an active family that loves the breed. Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
