Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). ADOPT SPENCER Spencer (formerly Spruce) came to us from ACCT Philly. This sweet boy is quite literally the definition of “cuddle puddle”. Spencer is a 6 month old hound mix (possibly boxer is our best mix guess). He’s neutered, UTD on vaccines and preventatives, and has a consult for his cherry eye coming up! This boys favorite thing to do is melt in your lap for belly rubs. Unless there’s a tennis ball available to chase! Spencer is dog friendly and loves to play. He adores every human he meets. He takes treats gently, and gives great kisses. He is pretty well house trained, knows how to use a pee pad, quiet in his crate, and doing well with leash walking. If you’d like to add this lovable guy to your family submit the application below! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
