Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). The application is the first step in the adoption process, so if you are interested in adopting please fill out the online adoption application first by visiting our website at .dachshundpaws Ladybug, born May 5th, is an adorable little Chihuahua. Ladybug was born in the rescue, when we took in a pregnant Chihuahua from someone who lost their home and could not keep their dogs. Ladybug weighs about 9 pounds. Ladybug is very shy at first. She will need patience and time to warm up. She loves to play with her siblings. She loves to chase bugs and leaves when she is outside playing. Ladybug is great with dogs and cats. Ladybug is ready to find her new family. Ladybug's adoption fee is $200 We do not have a kennel or facility to visit, all dogs are kept in foster homes until their forever homes are found. Adoption Process: Once an approved application is on file, we will then set up a home visit. At that time we will bring the dog to the home in which you will all be sharing. We ask the entire family to be there that day. If we all agree on the placement, then the dog will stay with you that day. Please visit our website at .dachshundpaws

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
