Description
Dog Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Junior enjoyed an off-site Snout & About adventure, here's what she had to about him! Heâs not a big leash puller although I can tell heâs got some pent up energy to release from his current housing circumstances- we did a short run at the Greenway where he matched my pace, and stopped when I stopped and checked in for a cue on what I wanted next. He doesnât know basic commands yet or maybe he was taught in a different language. He didnât seem to have any interest in the brown and black dogs we seen at the park; but did start full blown whining when we seen a large breed white dog, that from a distance resembled the dog he was previously housed with, which I do believe is his litter mate - he was easily redirected with a verbal âcome on letâs go silly boyâ where we continued our adventure of smelling all the smells in the opposite direction. Junior was awarded a dentastix chew when we got back to the car, which he took gently & throughly enjoyed (but didnât savor) while cooling off in my A/C and then hydrating. He seems to have been kept as a mostly indoor dog, because he did tire pretty quickly even though you can tell heâs got a little energy stored from being in the kennels. I wouldnât consider him a trip hazard once he initially calms down and he doesnât jump up at all, even when I attempted to get him to by patting myself and saying âupâ several times. *~*Please consider contacting MCAS today to meet Junior - Adopt, Foster, Volunteer, Donate, or just Share!*~*

Overview:
The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a robust and intelligent breed, originating in the United States from crossbreeding Old English Terriers and Old English Bulldogs for dog-fighting purposes. Physically, they are medium-sized, known for their muscular build, broad heads, and powerful jaws, typically weighing between 30-60 pounds. Their coats are short and come in a wide array of colors. Temperamentally, a well-socialized APBT is often described as loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented, displaying a playful and sometimes clownish demeanor. They can be excellent family companions, provided they receive consistent training and early socialization, though their high energy levels mean they thrive with active owners. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a house with a secure yard is often preferred. Notable health considerations include a predisposition to hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, and certain heart conditions.
