Description
Dog Breed: Australian Shepherd / Border Collie / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 620. Immediate Foster or Adopter Needed for Gunny! It’s Veterans Day weekend coming up, and when this handsome guy showed up as a stray with no one coming to claim him, we knew what we had to do — leave no man (or dog) behind. ❤️ Meet Gunny, (short for Gunnery Sergeant) our way of honoring all those who serve. He’s an approximately 2-year-old Border Collie/Aussie mix with the smarts, loyalty, and heart that herding breeds are known for. About Gunny: • Friendly with all dogs and all people ‍ • Typical of his herding breed, we don’t recommend small children • Cats: unknown at this time • Neutered and will be brought up to date on vaccinations this Saturday afternoon at Pavilion Crossing Animal Hospital (Riverview) • We think Gunny would make the ultimate Jeep dog — adventurous, loyal, and always ready to roll! We’re looking for a foster or adopter to help him start his journey after his vet appointment on Saturday. Applicants wanting to adopt will be given first priority. To apply for Gunny, please fill out an online adoption application at 4luckydogs #BorderCollieMix #AussieMix #AdoptDontShop #FosterNeeded #VeteransDayRescue #RescueDog #4LuckyDogsRescue #GunnyTheHeroDog

Breed overview
Overview:
The Border-Aussie, a captivating hybrid of the Australian Shepherd and Border Collie, is a relatively new designer breed gaining popularity for its intelligence and athleticism. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of its highly trainable parent breeds, the Border-Aussie typically exhibits a medium build with a striking, often bi- or tri-colored coat that can be rough or smooth. Temperamentally, they are incredibly intelligent, energetic, and possess a strong work drive, making them eager to learn and excel in various dog sports. While generally good-natured and loyal, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them best suited for active families or individuals who can provide consistent training and plenty of exercise; they are generally not ideal for apartment living. Potential owners should also be aware of common health concerns inherited from their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions (like Collie Eye Anomaly), and epilepsy.
