Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. A FUN & LIVELY PUP: Approx. 3 months old / Approx. 20 lbs. & growing Hi, my name is Adair! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and am so happy to be a member of the Mostly Mutts family now. I am spending time in a great foster home while I wait for my new family to find me. I’m ready to bring lots of fun and sweet puppy love to my new home! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I enjoy playing with the other puppy (5 months old) in my foster home, so I would likely do well with a playful furry friend in my new home. If you have a nice dog at home already who would enjoy my puppy energy, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over with my jumpy and mouthy puppy enthusiasm. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: When I first arrived, I was a bit nervous, but once I settled in and was out of my kennel, my truly adorable puppy nature emerged. Friendly, happy and a lover of people, I’m ‘all things puppy’ with a playful demeanor and loving nature. / My energy level is 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy - so get ready for some training with your new best friend. A smart girl, I already know the ‘sit’ command and I bet you can teach me lots more! My leash manners need some work, as I am a strong pup who can back out of my collar on a leash, so harnesses may work best for me. / I’ve had good crate manners while with Mostly Mutts and in my foster home. / My potty habits are a work in progress, as I am still a young pup. I’ve avoided accidents in my foster home by going out every hour or so. Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: My favorite way to spend my time is PLAYING – with or without toys! People are just the best, and I enjoy entertaining them with my puppy antics. Butt scratches turn me in into a jumping bean - lol, as I enjoy those! I was super playful in the shelter pen, so I bet I would enjoy frolicking with you in a nice, fenced yard, too. / I did not enjoy that pesky bath sprayer - hanging on to the edge of the tub and my bather for dear life, but with more baths, I’m improving. I am not a fan of car rides, but hopefully I’ll learn that they lead to good places and fun times. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I came in with a slight case of non-contagious mange and minimal fur loss around my eyes and have been getting medicated baths twice a week for this. I’ll need them a little longer and this can be done in my new home. I am looking for loving home with a wonderful family for life! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
