Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. To adopt please fill out an adoption Application This is a sweet little dog! Be sure to watch her video. Betsy is a 2yo female terrier mix who was rescued as a stray in Memphis. Friendly, happy, well-socialized. Betsy is fine with cats and she loves other dogs! Betsy is living happily with cats and dogs in her foster home. Great with kids and is very gentle with the young neighborhood kids. Sweet and well-behaved in public (see video). Housebroken and crate trained. High activity level outside (loves to do the zoomies!), quiet and well behaved in the house. Low maintenance, good house manners. Good on a leash, rides great in the car. Loves to be with her people.. Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots, spayed, weighs about 35 pounds. Awesome, gentle young terrier mix will make a wonderful companion (and jogging partner!) for an active family who loves the breed! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
