Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. Can you resist that adorable face and those up right ears that tell you she is ready for her forever home? Meet Faye, a very sweet lovable pup in spite of being found as a stray. And she so loves human attention! She is a terrier mix with a beautiful detailed short black and white coat. She is around 10 months old and currently weighs about 33 pounds. When fully grown she is expected to be within the medium range (25-50 pounds). She loves to play with other dogs but prefers spending time with humans and children even more! She has had a shared residence with a cat while in foster and is able to peacefully coexist. Terrier mixes are known to be smart, loving, and confident. They can be active and like to run around to burn off energy. Add to that the traits of playfulness and good-naturedness and you have an appealing mix. Puppies have lots of potential, and since Faye is smart and friendly, she can grow to be a wonderful companion in the right home. Faye will need an owner who has had knowledge and/or experience working with puppies. Using the right guidance with consistency and patience, will help her with the skills she needs to master. Cheerful praise and lots of treats will go a long way in helping her master those skills. It will take time and energy, but the result will be worth it. Since we do not know how much training Faye has had, it would be best to start at the beginning with house, crate and leash training. Like most puppies she will probably be a quick learner once routines are established. Daily short walks (under thirty minutes) will be a good opportunity to work on leash skills as well as socialization skills. It will be a new world to her with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along her walk. Please note: She may not be a running companion until at least age one when her growth plate closes. She will also appreciate free time in the back yard. Keeping her mind active with activities that provide physical and mental stimulation will prevent boredom. Are you willing to commit to the time and energy needed to raise this pup so that she can reach her full potential? If yes, read on. * Please keep in mind when considering adoption, dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust significantly better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Faye is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
