Dog Breed: Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. My, what big ears Finn has! The better to hear all the love coming his way when this 10-month-old terrier/mixed breed former stray pup finds his way into his forever home and family. Finn was found by a Good Samaritan who brought him into rescue. Along with those enormous ears, Finn sports a cream-colored coat with big polka dot spots. He currently weighs 33 pounds, and it is estimated he will top out as a medium sized dog (33-60 pounds). Finn is always a happy fellow with a spirited personality just right for playing with canine companions and children. It is not known if Finn enjoys the company of cats. Finn is working on housetraining and walking on a lead. Consistent training and positive reinforcement will teach him how to be a good house buddy. It is important to remember that puppies and rescue dogs may have accidents as they transition to a new home. If crate training is planned, Finn requires a crate that is big enough for him to turn around, stand in and lie down as he grows. Crates need to be warm welcoming places and must never be used for punishment. Finn with his sunny personality will never lack for good cheer, plenty of fun and a cuddly companionship. * Please keep in mind when considering adoption, dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust significantly better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Finn is $500. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
