Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. Lee Lee is a 2-year-old Black Mouth Cur/Shepherd mix pup and just about as sweet as they come. At 50 lbs, she is a cuddlebug who thinks she’s a lap dog! Her tail spins like a helicopter when she’s happy (and trust us, that’s most of the time). LeeLee adjusted to her foster home right away and has been an absolute gem. She's fully house-trained, and though she hasn’t had much crate experience, she’s been so well-behaved in the home that a crate hasn’t been necessary. She loves her people but is independent enough to spend time apart. She hasn’t lived with other dogs in her current foster home, but she gets along fine with neighbor dogs through the fence and did well with dogs in her previous foster home. She also absolutely adores kids—her foster’s children are 11 and 13, and she has been gentle and patient with them. She does not have experience with cats. Lee Lee loves toys that squeak and that she can toss towards someone to throw for her! She loves to be active including walks and playing in the backyard. She is learning to walk nicely with the help of a gentle leader (she pulls hard without one, and she is strong!). But her favorite thing is to cuddle and be near a friend. If you’re looking for a devoted, snuggly best friend, LeeLee is your girl! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
