Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (long coat). Adoption Fee: 200. Hi, I’m Rena! I was born around May 12, 2023. I am not sure what I am other than cute! I have a big heart and an even bigger love for peanut butter (though I won’t turn down anything tasty on top of my kibble!). I had a tough start in life as a young stray mom, but I’ve come a long way and now adore the comfort of having a home, a soft bed, and a family to love. These days, my favorite adventures are running around the beach with my foster brother and neighborhood friends, although you’ll usually find me right back in my foster mom’s lap for cuddles. It can take me a little while to get used to new places, but once I feel safe, I’ll be your loyal shadow. I’m very smart and motivated by treats and praise, so I learn quickly! I can be curious (and sometimes too clever when it comes to finding snacks or exploring under fences), but a little patience and structure go a long way with me. I’m still working on potty training. I’m learning to ring the bells by the door when I need to go outside — and my foster mom says I’m making great progress! I get along wonderfully with small dogs and am slowly building my confidence around larger pups. I’d do best in a calm home with gentle people who will give me time to feel secure. I’m very sweet with children, though quick movements can make me a little nervous. I’m an affectionate, patient girl who rarely barks and I really just want to be wherever you are. If you’re looking for a loving companion who will fill your days with quiet joy and your lap with snuggles, I might just be your perfect match. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
