Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). #A5728619 Shelby is a 4-year-old, 56 lb spayed female Pitbull mix with a gorgeous taupe-colored coat, adorable forehead wrinkles, and sweet, puppy-like eyes. Returned to the shelter on October 23, 2025, Shelby is playful, treat-motivated, and full of charm. She’s friendly, easy to leash, and loves exploring the yard before coming back for pets and attention. True to her breed, she adores scratches and kisses and thrives on human affection. Shelby walks nicely on leash, appears housebroken, and knows her basic commands. She’s social with other dogs, especially calm ones, and would do well in a home that can continue her gentle socialization. With her low-to-medium energy and affectionate personality, Shelby is the perfect size and temperament for any loving family looking for a loyal, happy companion. -4 years old, spayed female, 56 lbs -Pitbull mix, taupe coat with white markings -Returned to shelter on 10/23/2025 -Playful, friendly, and treat-motivated -Sweet, affectionate, and loves scratches and kisses -Walks well on leash and appears housebroken -Knows basic commands -Good with calm dogs; tolerant and non-reactive -Low-to-medium energy level -Perfect-sized, happy dog with a gentle heart and loving nature SHELBY’S VIDEO: youtube/shorts/qYuK4cJuMUc For more information, contact volunteer Lisa at lisaaunitedhopeforanimals ------- United Hope for Animals (UHA) is a volunteer group and does not have a facility for animals. Overview:
The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a robust and intelligent breed, originating in the United States from crossbreeding Old English Terriers and Old English Bulldogs for dog-fighting purposes. Physically, they are medium-sized, known for their muscular build, broad heads, and powerful jaws, typically weighing between 30-60 pounds. Their coats are short and come in a wide array of colors. Temperamentally, a well-socialized APBT is often described as loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented, displaying a playful and sometimes clownish demeanor. They can be excellent family companions, provided they receive consistent training and early socialization, though their high energy levels mean they thrive with active owners. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a house with a secure yard is often preferred. Notable health considerations include a predisposition to hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, and certain heart conditions.
