Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). A5670983 Xena is a 1-year, 5-month-old spayed female Siberian Husky with a striking brindle coat and kind, soulful eyes. Surrendered by her owner on October 18, 2025, she’s a sweet, attentive girl who bonds quickly once she feels safe. Xena walks well on leash, knows ‘sit’ and responds to gentle correction, and is treat-motivated and eager to please. She’s calm and polite around other dogs, though she isn’t playful yet, preferring quiet companionship. Slightly timid at first, but becomes very friendly as she thrives with patience and a gentle hand. Xena has a healing abrasion on her right cheek and some dental tartar, so she’ll go home on a health waiver for follow-up vet care. Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy.
