Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Nugget is an 11-month-old Pitbull mix who thrives on companionship and cuddles. Weighing in at 52 pounds, he's a certified comedian who pounces on toys and treats, often throwing them into the air. Everything fascinates him from running water to leaves blowing in the street — it's all wondrous in his world! Nugget is a medium-energy dog who loves his daily sniff-filled walks, squeaky toys, and chew toys. He seems to get zoomies out of nowhere, so while he doesn't need a fenced yard, he will do best with humans who are committed to regular walks and quality time to burn off his puppy energy. When he's all tuckered out, he loves curling up with a big smile for a nap. Nugget is fully potty-trained but still needs guidance on how to be a great roommate. Like any puppy, he sometimes tests his limits so he is kept gated off in the kitchen when left alone. During the workday, he settles well when gated and usually sleeps or plays with his toys. Nugget will need a home without shared walls (no apartments/townhomes) because he will alert bark at strange noises. He loves everyone he meets, including kids, and gets along well with most dogs. However, he will require a home without young children (no kids under 14) while he learns boundaries. He does not have experience with cats. Nugget would thrive in a home where his humans are home often because he has so much love to give. If you’re ready for endless cuddles and a dog who will always greet you with a happy wiggle, Nugget is your guy! Overview:
The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a robust and intelligent breed, originating in the United States from crossbreeding Old English Terriers and Old English Bulldogs for dog-fighting purposes. Physically, they are medium-sized, known for their muscular build, broad heads, and powerful jaws, typically weighing between 30-60 pounds. Their coats are short and come in a wide array of colors. Temperamentally, a well-socialized APBT is often described as loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented, displaying a playful and sometimes clownish demeanor. They can be excellent family companions, provided they receive consistent training and early socialization, though their high energy levels mean they thrive with active owners. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a house with a secure yard is often preferred. Notable health considerations include a predisposition to hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, and certain heart conditions.
