Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Ronan is a handsome boy who is looking for a new home. He's currently with our rescue partner in Louisiana and can travel to NJ if we find him a foster or adopter. For approved adopters, we offer a foster-to adopt trial- giving you and Ronan a chance to make sure it's the perfect match before making it official. Ronan is small but mighty! Looking for a partner in crime, someone to binge watch Netflix with, and a ride or die bestie? Ronan's your guy! he's a 3 year old ball of energy weighing about 45 pounds and knows how to steal the spotlight as soon as he enters a room. This mini-celebrity adores people, kids and even other dogs. He's officially accepting applications for best friends. Ronan is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He just completed his heartworm treatment. His adoption fee is $450. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
