We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Meet Sage! Sage is a 10-pound (and growing!) Shepherd mix puppy with the sweetest personality and the most stunning green eyes. While his exact breed mix is a mystery, we’re confident he’ll grow into a medium-to-large dog—likely 50+ pounds of pure love. Sage was rescued along with his mama and siblings from an overcrowded shelter and has been thriving in his foster home. He’s an adventurous, playful pup who loves exploring, playing with other dogs, and soaking up attention from every human he meets. He’s social, curious, and ready to fill his forever home with joy. Sage is neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. His adoption fee is $350, plus a $100 refundable training deposit to help him continue learning and growing into a well-mannered canine citizen. The deposit is fully refundable within 3 months upon completion of training. If you're looking for a lovable, happy-hearted companion, Sage may be your perfect match! All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
