Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 350. ATTENTION: All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs. We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Meet Sky! Sky is a 10-pound (and growing!) Shepherd mix puppy with a gentle spirit and a heart full of potential. Her exact breed mix is a mystery, but we expect her to grow into a medium-to-large dog—likely 50+ pounds of love and loyalty. Sky was rescued along with her mama and siblings from an overcrowded shelter and has been thriving in her foster home. She can be a little shy at first, but once she feels safe, her sweet and playful personality shines through. Sky is intelligent, friendly, and enjoys spending time with both humans and other dogs. She is spayed and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $350, plus a $100 refundable training deposit to support her continued learning and development into a confident, well-mannered canine companion. The deposit is fully refundable within 3 months upon completion of training. If you’re looking for a loving pup who blossoms with kindness and patience, Sky may be your perfect match! All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
