Description
Dog Breed: Flat-coated Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Goliath is everything his name promises — big, bold, and full of heart — and starting with the letter “G” couldn’t be more fitting! This 5–6-month-old black Lab mix currently weighs 33 lbs and GROWING, and he’s every bit the goofy, good-natured “toddler” you’d expect. Goliath is curious about everything and loves to get into a little harmless mischief in the name of fun! He’s a true Lab at heart — happiest when carrying his leash or proudly trotting along on walks, often stopping to find the perfect stick. He walks beautifully on leash with tail-wagging pride and pure joy. Goliath has already learned to sit, is crate-trained, loves a good game of fetch, and never tires of “organizing” (a.k.a. emptying) his toy basket. Despite his size, he’s incredibly gentle, endlessly loving, and, of course, wonderfully GOOFY. He may look full grown, but don’t be fooled — he’s still just a big baby who’s ready to learn, love, and grow with his forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal, silly, and affectionate companion who’ll bring laughter and warmth into your life, Goliath is your guy I f you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: .starfishanimalrescue/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
