Description
Dog Breed: Beagle (short coat). Adoption Fee: 350.. Meet MIKE and SULLEY, our 2 adorable Monsters Inc beagle puppies. These boys are definitely play monsters. And treat monsters. They are simply delightful. Mike and Sulley are about 6 months old, Mike is currently 12 pounds, Sulley is 14 pounds. We expect them to remain on the small side, maybe 20-25 pounds when fully grown. They both have some hair loss thanks to fleas and poor nutrition. The fleas are gone, Mike and Sulley are eating a healthy diet and boy do they love to eat. They're already "hairing up" and they should look absolutely perfect in short order. Mike and Sulley have never known life as an only dog, they need to go to homes with another friendly playful dog. They need physically-fenced yards to keep them from following their beagle noses into trouble. If you'd like to meet Mike or Sulley, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet the boys at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. Our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.

Overview:
The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
