Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff / Mixed. Meet Petunia! Petunia is an 8-year-old Cane Corso mix. This sweet girl is a 118-pound gentle giant with a heart just as big as her paws. She’s currently working on shedding a few pounds with some light walks and healthy snacks — but don’t worry, it doesn’t slow her down one bit when it comes to cuddle time! Petunia adores curling up with her people and will happily soak up all the love and attention she can get. She has a calm, easygoing personality and gets along well with other dogs her size who share her relaxed vibe. This sweet girl is looking for a loving home where she can continue her wellness journey, enjoy plenty of snuggles, and be part of a family that appreciates her gentle spirit. Petunia is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. Her adoption fee is $300 cash or check. With Petunia by your side, you’ll have a loyal, loving companion for life. Our hospital is open for adoption visitation Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 5:00pm and Saturday's from 8:00am to 11:00am. Prior to meeting an adoptable animal we do require an approved application to be on file, sorry for this inconvenience. Cat adoption fees are $50 for kittens under 16 weeks of age and $75 for kittens/cats over 16 weeks of age. Dog adoption fees are $150 for puppies under 16 weeks of age and $175 for dogs over 16 weeks of age.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
