Description
Dog Breed: Beagle. Bailey is a busy body young beagle that loves to do all the beagley things. Loves walks, loves snacks, loves sniffing for rascally rabbits in the back yard then coming in for a cuddle and a snooze on the couch. Bailey does well with other dogs but we have not seen him in a home with cats. Beagle lovers don't miss out on this very sweet and handsome boy. Bailey was brought to MPR with his brother Sam but will be adopted separately. Bailey was born April 3, 2023 and weighs 24 pounds. Bailey is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at petsmpravl for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Overview:
The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
