Description
Dog Breed: English Coonhound / German Shorthaired Pointer (short coat). You can apply for Jillie at ladyluckanimalrescue.wufoo/forms/canine-adoption-agreement-and-application/ ❤️ Today we welcomed Jillie to the Lady Luck Animal Rescue Family!! She caught my attention when I was walking through the shelter looking at dogs to network. I had no idea what her backstory was when her sweet face peeked through the bars at me. Jillie has been at the shelter since September 30th. Someone put her in one of the overnight drop crates at the shelter. She was thought to be pregnant because she was so swollen. Heartbreakingly, it was discovered that she had recently given birth. Did someone dump her and just keep the puppies? We will never know Can you even imagine the horror of giving birth, being torn from your puppies, disposed of in an outdoor kennel and then spending the next 6+ weeks in a loud scary shelter! Despite all of this, Jillie was a staff favorite and is an absolute treasure. Today she met her new foster mom and kids! They went straight to Starbucks for a Pup Cup, then went home and got the full spa treatment Lorelei style and is now convalescing in her beautiful comfy foster home! Jillie gets along with everyone she meets! She is good with other dogs and kids! She has not yet been introduced to cats. She walks well on a leash, she is fully potty trained, crate trained and not destructive when left alone. Jillie is believed to be a Pointer/Hound Mix and weighs 52 lbs. Jillie is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all of her vaccinations. She will be getting a dental cleaning prior to finalizing her adoption. If you are interested in adopting Jillie, please fill out our adoption application. (There is an adoption fee)

Overview:
The English Coonhound, also known as the American English Coonhound, is a handsome and athletic breed with a rich history rooted in the American South, where they were developed for hunting raccoons and other small game. Physically, they are medium to large-sized dogs, boasting a lean, muscular build, expressive, soulful eyes, and a short, dense coat typically found in redtick, bluetick, tricolor, or bicolored patterns. Temperamentally, English Coonhounds are generally affectionate, good-natured, and intelligent, making them wonderful companions for active families. However, their strong prey drive and characteristic "baying" bark mean they are often not ideal for apartment living and require a secure, fenced yard for their ample exercise needs. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of a predisposition to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems. With proper training and socialization, they can be incredibly loyal and loving additions to the right household.
